This international design competition invited designers to conceive a fresh vision of environmental, social, and economic opportunities on and beyond a 9-acre site at the heart of Seattle Center. The call for participation requested design ideas that harness Seattle’s history of innovation and civic engagement and inspire the next generation of great public spaces and connect interaction and innovation to meet the challenges of the future. The creation of a compelling and informative identity and competition brief drew inspiration from the dynamic qualities of Seattle Center as a cultural urban hub. The Urban Intervention design entries were then presented in a public exhibition to promote the enduring qualities that Seattle Center represents to the city and the region.
